Casa de Costa is pleased to announce F*ck the Golden Years, a solo photography exhibition by artist Kevin Amato opening on March 8th. Amato has worked for nearly a decade as a photographer and is best known for his frequent contributions to international fashion and lifestyle magazines like Dazed & Confused, Interview and Flaunt. Fck the Golden Years, which features more than forty framed works, is the first opportunity to see a large selection of finished prints by the artist. The full exhibition includes cornerstone images from the artist’s commercial portfolio, as well as a broad selection of unseen portraits, landscapes and still life work from Amato’s personal catalog.
Amato’s work is strongly associated with hip-hop and fashion, and his personal work touches on these themes. His images blur the lines between art, fashion, celebrity and lifestyle. Fck the Golden Years is a visual account of his life and loves: a quintessential New York diary that reflects the beauty Amato sees all around him.
“Kevin’s photographs are a real portrait of the artist,” said Josh McNey, Creative Director for Casa de Costa. “When you get to look at Kevin’s personal pictures you see layers and layers of emotion. The photographs are defiantly candid. They have a freshness and sense of humor that is palpably optimistic. They’re very much like Kevin himself.”
A Long Island native, Amato was born in Massapequa, New York and currently resides in the Bronx. He is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and his work has been widely published in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
