Part II of Haunted and Horny is an exhibition of over 70 works on paper by Japanese artist Jun Iseyama, which compliments the installation and photographs from Part I.
Working in a variety of media, Iseyama has developed a distinctive visual style characterized by bold strokes and layered imagery, at times bringing to mind automatic drawing. Vast negative spaces become a vital element in these works, implying a dream-like netherworld. Her ethereal images often depict humanoid figures against little or no background in various states of violence, sex, and play. As with Part I, Iseyama embraces the macabre ether of Japanese and Western culture from Versace to 12th Century Buddhist Hell Scrolls.
