Mountain Fold is pleased to announce the closing reception of “Turkey 1989” by J. Wales Wilson. The show presents images caught by the artist on a trip to the country, two decades ago. His pictures focus on the figure situated amidst a rough landscape. The photographs reveal the perceptions of a foreigner engaging with a world, wholly new to him, yet ages old.
Carrying only two Leica cameras as equipment, Wilson traveled from Istanbul eastwards for ten days. Through his photographs of children, mothers, fathers, and animals, he observes a vitality and richness of life, despite a lack of material resources.
Whether you have already had a chance to view the exhibition or not, we hope you will join us the reception on Tuesday, September 8th, to see a group of previously unseen B&W works.
