We are excited to announce that as of September 2009 Ch’i Contemporary Fine Art will officially change its name to Causey Contemporary. To commemorate our 10th year in New York the gallery will expand its existing exhibition space at 293 Grand Street.
On Friday, September 11th from 6 – 9 PM we will have our public reception from 6 – 9 PM, as part of the Williamsburg Gallery Association’s 2nd Friday event. Both exhibitions will run till October 5th.
With the expansion of our current space we are excited to offer our artists greater exhibition opportunities. For our 10th Anniversary Show we will have the opening of two solo exhibitions by John Clement and Marc Brotherton. John Clement’s exhibition Mike and Ike will feature two new small scale sculptures as part of his newest series based on kid’s candies. Clement remarks, “My sculptures are three-dimensional realizations of imaginary forms. I rely heavily on the artistic process, allowing the work to evolve and mature, eventually become self-referential. Although many of my works are site-specific their form does not directly rely on the surrounding architecture or landscape. The clearly defined positive and negative space of the work, combined with its scale, creates a new framework in which the surroundings can be experienced through the sculpture.”
Marc Brotherton’s exhibition Soft Attractor will feature new works on canvas and paper. Brotherton mixes language and invented imagery to convey the transformative potential of painting. A graduate of Brooklyn College’s MFA program Marc Brotherton has participated in solo and group shows in New York, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta and Albuquerque. A native of Kansas he currently lives and works in Decatur, Georgia.
