For the months of September and October, HEIST is taking a new approach and opening our doors to a little more collective experimentation. Taking our inspiration from the free thinking and expressive movement of the 70’s and the bohemian studios of London and Paris at the turn of the Century, we have invited artists every week to come and transform our space with sculpture, installations, paint and illustration. Covering a diverse range of styles we wanted to make the artists studio an exhibit in itself, a rare chance to see the work being created and to discuss with the artists their own unique processes and motivations behind what they do.
This Thursday, we will have a reception for Anne Kunsemiller’s installation which consists of neon drawings, a geodesic sculpture, and a single-channel video. Her new work deals largely with perceptions of conflict, suggesting a certain prurient gaze involved in viewing aggressive and violent imagery.
