Fred Torres Collaborations is proud to present It’s All There Already, the first solo exhibition of artist George Rahme. It’s All There Already will be on view from November 5, 2009 to January 23, 2010. Fred Torres Collaborations is located at 527 W. 29th Street on the third floor.
George Rahme’s bucolic canvases explore themes surrounding the everyday activities of “the common man” – paying homage to the work of fishermen, hunters, and amateur explorers. He finds inspiration in the poetry of Khalil Gibran, the videos and paintings of Jan & Eva Svankmajer, and the underground techno scene of Detroit. It’s All There Already includes fifteen paintings ranging from intimate studies to sweeping, large scale pastoral scenes.
Born in Lansing, Michigan to Lebanese immigrant parents, Rahme attended the College for Creative Studies in his hometown and graduated with High Honors in 2007. In addition to his career as a visual artist, he is an accomplished DJ and musician who has released records, toured Europe and the US, and makes frequent appearances in the thriving Detroit underground scene.
