The Taller Boricua presents “(in)tangible,” a group exhibition of 11 contemporary New York artists whose work blurs the boundaries between states of permanence and permeability, collapsing the distinctions within the visible and invisible forces that surround our lives.

Art has the ability to coexist within the realms of both perception and reality, offering a limitless vantage point of the influential forces of both the natural world and the culture through which we define it. It gives shape and substance to the intangible ideologies that drive society such as theology, politics, science and aesthetics. Alternatively, art also deconstructs the tangible manifestations of these same discourses, for example those of religion and ritual, social and government practices, technological devices and material commodities.

The participating artists explore these collective dialogues and critical reflections through various mediums: new/multi-media, photography, installation and video. Challenging our expectations and preconceived notions, their work examines both deep within and far beyond the confines of physical form. British writer and painter John Berger once wrote, “The relation to what we see and what we know is never settled.” The exhibition “(in)tangible” exists within this unresolved, provocative experience.

Gallery Hours: Tuesday through Saturday 12-6pm, Thursday 1-7pm Monday and Sunday Closed
