DBP Window Installations "Your Art Here"
285 Livingston Street, 718-403-1636
Brooklyn Misc.
December 4, 2009 - January 4, 2010

Downtown Brooklyn Partnership is pleased to announce an exhibition of new work by Max Langhurst. For this exhibition, Langhurst pairs a selection of video and installation to create a universal bridge between the ineffable and the intrinsic.

Each window focuses on the dualistic nature of the buildings construction further emphasizing the compartmental design.

On the second floor, a video flashes a series of images of the remaining last wonders of the world spread across silk creating impulses of metaphysical light. These images function as part of a bigger discussion on existence and object hood, effecting the very notion of how we feel about the world around us. Underneath the surface of the fabric light permeates, casting historical form against the everyday modern.

For the third floor, the artist has created a vertical trifecta cast in white. The artist appoints a hollow cage of metal affixed with neon latticework and two other light boxes, thereby redistributing levels of importance within the troupe. There exists stages of micro-level resemblance which is explained in the fundamental sequence found in the cubes placement and delicate blinking instrumentation. Langhurst uses a formal syntax for constructive reflection all the while suggesting the need to quantify the motions of each abstract object as it is released in time.

Max Langhurst lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
