Gallery SATORI is pleased to present recent paintings by Eric Blum in the Project Space. Using multiple layers of transparent mediums like beeswax, silk and resin, Blum captures light filled shimmering images reminiscent of things viewed peripherally or as out of focus backgrounds which are sometimes more poetic and delicate than their actuality. He tries to capture the unattainable fleeting forms as they appear before closer inspection.
Eric Blum is a recipient of two Pollack-Krasner Foundation grants and the 2008 New York Foundation for the Arts Painting Fellow. He has had numerous solo exhibitions at Marcia Wood Gallery, Atlanta; David Weinberg Gallery, Chicago; Rule Modern and Contemporary, Denver; William Turner Gallery, Venice, CA; Lemmons Contemporary, Littlejohn Contemporary, Albert Insinger Gallery, Stephen Haller Gallery, Bess Cutler Gallery, Boltax Gallery, and M-13 Gallery in New York. His work has been reviewed in such publications as the New York Times, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Denver Rocky Mountain News, and the Chicago Tribune.
