In his project, titled What’s the Matter, Zohar utilized x-ray technology to explore symbolic and ubiquitous items. What’s the Matter enables the observer to experience compositions of common objects in a new fashion, eliminating its emblematic layer.
Zohar compared items with symbolic meaning to them alongside with similar items with no symbolism attached. Kosher chicken, for example was placed next to a non-kosher one under the Xray light. Armani shoes were inspected along with generic shoes of similar shape.
“Working in aviation security, I was inspired by the powerful visuals produced by the Xray machines. I always wanted to express myself using this technology, and What’s The Matter is the result of this passion.” Sais Avgar.
