DISPATCH is pleased to present True Grit, Virginia Overton’s first one-person exhibition in New York. Positioning basic materials and staging physical processes, Overton creates rugged sculptural constructions. Overton repurposes building materials and objects in her workplace into considered relationships that are subject to surrounding conditions—space, gravity, moisture, pressure, etc. Minimalist gestures, economy of materials, and formal clarity in her work resonate a uniquely spare vernacular aesthetic in precarious balance.
