Nancy Margolis Gallery presents Still Life 2010, a group exhibition featuring the work of Holly Farrell, Amy Mahnick, Melodie Provezano and Todd Knopke.
Holly Farrell focuses on humble domestic objects, worn and aged, done in acrylic and oil on masonite with exacting realism, conveying attachment, isolation, nostalgia, and intimacy.
Amy Mahnick’s tour de force, throw away plastic containers cut, glued and manipulated into three dimensional sculptures arranged into small groups of impressionist pastel hued oil paintings on linen. The sculptures, two to twelve inches high have a gem like quality and are to be included in the exhibition.
Melodie Provenzano’s models for her still life paintings, funky vintage miniature plastic toys are translated into grand eloquent flowing compositions rendered with graphite, gouache and 24k gold leaf.
Todd Knopke sews and stitches cloth remnants into colorful, abstract still life installations.
