Art and industry criss-cross at Heathers Project Space featuring new window installation titled Loose Wires by Brooklyn based artist Brent Ridge.
Loose Wires is a curious assemblage of painting and photography, using one form against the other in a contrast of imagery. The wires in question are images formed through the artist’s process of free-painting from memory in a manner alluding to manufacture. The paintings are offset by duplicate photographs of construction beams gone awry. The paintings and photographs are displayed together at once forming a new composition of image making in an abstract language that asks the viewer to identify what from what.
Brent Ridge is a Brooklyn based artist from the American industrial heartland of Flint, Michigan, U.S.A. He holds a BFA in studio art from Michigan State University and his works are informed with issues of art making in a post-industrial, post-craft age. Influenced by the modern day landscape of the current economic collapse, his work attempts to reconcile current events with historic Americana and his own artistic development.
