Midtown
August 7 - August 21, 2010

Tokyo Art Project Inc., presents the first solo exhibition of Yu Okuzono, introducing selected works from the Triangle Series.

Okuzono’s triangle patterns in Gold, Black, Red, or White, are meticulously painted on the fragments of wooden construction materials collected from the streets of the New York City. The surface of each wooden materials are covered with the web of interconnected triangles which creates an illusion of continuous movement. Okuzono’s works reference both, spirituality, and history. They relate to the construction sites in the city to the remains of ancient relics, with its cracked, and uneven surface decorated with one of the basic shapes in geometry as its motif.

The viewers are invited to encounter what was once a mundane castaway objects transformed by the triangles.

Yu Okuzono lives and works in New York.
