Skylight Gallery opens first collaborative summer exhibition: Private i
PRIVATE i
August 26th to Sept. 16th
OPENING RECEPTION August 26th, 6-9pm
Skylight Gallery is pleased to announce its first collaborative summer exhibition, a themed show entitled Private i. It includes work from a variety of innovative emerging international and local artists and opens to the public on August 26th from 6-9pm. A number of the artists will be present.
Responding to the concept of personal and private investigation, the 20 selected artists worked within an abbreviated time period to create their responses to the theme. On view will be pieces in a range of media including traditional painting and drawing, sculpture, photography, digital art, and an interactive electronic installation.
The chosen works disclose the richness of the human soul, the vibrancy with which imagination and creativity explore a single theme. Unique conceptual interpretation is here delivered through the mind, hand, heart. Exposed is the underlying fragile nature of humanity. Exposed are the strength of individual character and the power of creative investigation to speak. Vulnerability meets attack, the surface is scratched. The juxtaposition of work treating the same theme created by artists in total isolation from one another relies on the viewer for making connections, further fostering metacognition and the theme of self investigation. The viewer effectively becomes the final creator and holds power as the missing link.
Artists included in the exhibit are Therese Aasvik, Ian Addison Hall, Sandra Bacon, Joanne Bedard, Larissa Borteh, Justin Carty, Lisa Cullen, Amanda Dandeneau, Andrea Harris, Jill Kerwick, Felice Koenig, Sherry Mayo, Christian Rappaport, Roberta Masciarelli, Eniko Szucs, Lubomir Tomaszewski, Regina Tumasella, Susan Walsh, Brian Walters, and DASCE collaboration: Johae Song, Brandon Diamond, Michael Zick Doherty, Emice Kim, Yee Lin, Cindy, Michael Epstein, and Evan W. Graves.
The exhibition will run from August 26-September 16. Summer Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10am until 4pm. The gallery is located at 538 W 29th St. NY, NY 10001.
