Rebecca Holland’s first solo show in New York City. Holland is best known as an installation artist, whose subtle, site-specific works alter one’s perception of a given space. Of these installations, only memory and documentation remain.
For Holland’s show, a variety of minimal objects will be on display, alongside a site-specific installation. All works are formed from melted sugar, emphasizing Holland’s attraction to ephemerality, the experience of location, and the articulation of space; essentially making the invisible, or what one takes for granted, visible.
Holland received a BA from Bennington College (1984) and an MFA from University of Massachusetts at North Dartmouth (1991). She currently lives and works in Santa Fe, N.M. and has exhibited her site-specific installations in The Mattress Factory (Pittsburgh), ArtPace (San Antonio), Art in General (New York), ICA Philadelphia, and Contemporary Art Museum (Houston). Holland is currently an adjunct professor of studio art at the College of Santa Fe.
