Two architectural wall installations, ‘Nomadic City’, featuring paintings, collages and sculptures of urban architecture will be created at the gallery. On the left wall, many buildings from different neighborhood in New York City will be hung on the clothe lines in various sizes and a street view in perspective with wood panel and masking tape drawing will be on the right wall. Each drawing is a flatten sculpture or a 3 dimensional painting of urban architectures that has typical sites of necessary routine such as grocery shop, restaurant, cafĂ© and laundromat. The collection of urban structures from different neighborhoods in New York City is a map of my personal life and a collage of neighborhood and cultures. Also, it depicts the displacement and nomadic lifestyles of our times. As an immigrant artist myself, I also relocated to New York from Korea and keep moving neighborhood and traveling for living and working to seek my real home.
