Erika Keck is a Brooklyn-based artist whose use of paint often mimics the look and feel of flesh. Faces, bodies and backgrounds are rendered in a disjointed manner, suggestive of melting or dismemberment, and underscore a method of deconstruction that sometimes turns the canvas itself into a puzzle piece inside of a larger installation. Keck’s work summons up a kind of experimental gestalt from fragmentary moments of sensuality.
