On November 3rd, Kehinde Wiley and the Collette Blanchard Gallery are hosting ‘Be Thankful – A Benefit for Scott Andresen’. The event will be a silent art auction and catered reception. Admission is free via RSVP to [email protected] Event details can be seen at http://www.be-thankful-benefit.com/.
Organized by a benefit committee comprised of friends and peers of Andresen’s the fundraiser will help to cover medical expenses associated with a bicycle accident that left the up-and-coming artist with a devastating spinal cord injury. An array of diverse and talented visual artists including Derrick Adams, Ann Craven, David Humphrey, Wangechi Mutu, Shinique Smith, Mickalene Thomas, Nari Ward, and Kehinde Wiley among many others have banded together to raise money, generously donating their time and artwork. The fundraiser is named after Andresen’s favorite song, William DeVaughn’s, “Be Thankful For What You’ve Got”.
