New Paintings by Peter Brock
Dec. 10th – 16th at NYSS Gallery
The New York Studio School presents a show of new works by Peter Brock. Brock’s pieces document a careful investigation of light, reflectivity and spatial relations through extensive experimentation with new materials. Many of the works employ aluminum flashing, thin glazes of home-made paint utilizing some pigment recipes borrowed from the auto industry. A reverence for light and contemplative space runs throughout the pieces in the show. Taking inspiration from pioneers such as Robert Rymann, Mark Rothko, Ronald Blayden and James Turell, Brock’s work seeks to further the possibilites of painting as a theater of light and contemplative space.
The will be an opening reception with live gypsy jazz and refreshments.
