Triple Candie is please to present an exhibition based on Dexter Sinister’s “The Plastic Arts,” an installation originally presented at Gallery 400 at the University of Illinois, Chicago, September 7 to October 23, 2010. Our exhibition presents a text-portrait exhibited in Chicago alongside three Triple Candie-induced iterations of itself, all the progressive results of subjecting the text to a graphic design filter that has abstracted into crystalline fragments. Dexter Sinister was not consulted on or involved with this exhibition, which contains none of their actual work.

About Dexter Sinister: Dexter Sinister is the compound name of Stuart Bailey and David Reinfurt. As a group, Dexter Sinister works as a publishing imprint, a workshop/bookstore based in New York, and an exhibiting artist making art shows and events. David graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1993, Yale University in 1999, and formed the design studio O-R-G in 2000. Stuart graduated from the University of Reading in 1994, the Werkplaats Typografie in 2000, and co-founded the journal Dot Dot Dot the same year.
