Starting in late September, the Abrons Arts Center provides free studio space for 11 months to five New York City visual artists and one curator under the AIRspace residency program. Historically, the artists selected for the AIRspace program have been painters, printmakers, photographers, sculptors, and video or installation artists.
Visual artists Yeon Jin Kim, Beth Livensperger, Nyeema Morgan, and Austin Shull will present work in their second-floor studio space, and ceramics artist Veronica Frenning will present work in her ground floor studio.
In the Underground Theater, curator-in-residence Miguel Amado will present a screening of video works, and Abrons Visual Arts Director Jonathan Durham will host an information session for potential applicants to the 2011-12 AIRspace residency.
This event coincides with It’s You Today, a day of public programming in conjunction with The West at Sunset, an exhibit currently on view in the Abrons galleries.
