Tom Meacham’s show will consist of new paintings and works on paper. Meacham views his process as informing him as much as he informs it. The work, while technically precise, employs technique only as a means to an end. The body of work, while consistent, eschews a singular style – the central stylistic concern of each piece is “to be itself.”
Meacham says “the work should bring to the surface, awareness of its own absurd practice and existence at the same time as an awareness and reaction to mortality, be it sad, beautiful, horrific, or comic. Specifically that life is not a quest for beautiful things, as so much art makes it out to be, but rather an acceptance of all things pretty and ugly.”
