Evolution-Water combines projected light from a programmed LED array over subtly flowing water. The projected imagery unfolds and constantly evolves over twenty-four minutes and then seamlessly repeats. The reflecting pool is elevated to 54” above street level thereby confronting the viewer at or near eye level and forcing one to feel the water. The resulting visual orgy should engulf one so deeply in rapturous beauty that surrounding wintry elements are forgotten, creating a meditative setting

Bio:

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Stanley Casselman received a Bachelor of Arts from Pitzer College in Claremont, California.

His work with light over the past several years has centered around the concept of evolution. Stanley is fascinated by the idea that evolution both describes the essence of what is true and at the same time is something more liquid then that which flows through our veins.

The who, what, where, why and how questions began for Stanley in his childhood. Following these notions has put him on a path embracing limitless thought combined with the deeply cathartic nature of the creative process he kept questioning, humbled and ever striving to embrace the unknown through the only place he found absolute logic: pure abstraction.

His work has been shown in several solo and group exhibitions throughout California and New York City. He has also exhibited Evolution-Water at the 2010 Light Art Biennial in Linz, Austria.
