As the barrage of images continually churn in the mind, those which have become the most ingrained through repetition can suddenly appear before the eyes in completely unrelated objects, due to a shared underlying form.
In My Eyes Betray Me, Anderson recreates such impromptu exchanges involving religious imagery; the subject was chosen for its prolific nature throughout history and society. The discord between the reverent and the mundane imbues the recontextulizations with surprising and poignant new meanings.
