The Pinion Gallery, located in Brooklyn, is please to present an exhibition encompassing various mediums entitled Decay. The exhibition will open March 18, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. This exhibit will be the first opening exhibit of the year at Pinion Gallery.

Pinion Gallery is an artist run gallery and the exhibit will be representing the three primary artists who also run the gallery. This exhibition was organized to kick-off the 2011 exhibition season at Pinion Gallery. The artists exhibiting are David McLeish, Matt Miley and William Stitt. Each of their works in the show centralizes around the theme of decay and the emotions that spring forth from such events.

Matt creates two-dimensional based artwork that explore rigid philosophical systems and how those structures react or do not react to genuine skeptical inquiry. Anthropomorphic ideals materialize into a landscape in which transparent figures are interacting in a combined, encompassing manifold. He was born in Mississippi and lives in Brooklyn, New York.

David’s work deals with both personal diary and story telling, at once. References are drawn from a mixture of memory, architecture, and people encountered along the way. He creates these environments and experiences, to capture the mood of a person who finds himself or herself somewhere unfamiliar and yet familiar.

Originally from Florida and a graduate from the SMFA in Boston, William Stitt is an artist working in film and charcoal drawing. His current series, The Forms of Things Unknown, are various works depicting the lives of creatures both real and imaginary. The work documents the demise of the animal represented in a manner that seems to call to mind a memento mori.
