Manthony’s Song, an exhibition including paintings, etchings, monoprints, sculptural musical instruments, and site-specific installations by Kyle Simon, opens March 10, 2011. Simon’s first solo exhibition, with ARTJAIL.
Simon has created an epic story chronicling the lives of four characters, Xavi, Bernadette, The Good Doctor, and Manthony. A family. In a world unto itself. The stories told in the works are narrated on unique record players Simon has created. These “sound machines” play recordings he himself cut on a 1930’s record lathe, with guest narrators, including Lucy Liu, Ben Folstein, Bill Hall, and Brian Weitz.
Simon lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from The College of Santa Fe in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Simon works as a printer with Pace Prints. He has shown his work with 31GRAND, Eyelevel BQE, Spin magazine, Artjail, and Element Editions.
