Coinciding with New York’s Asian Contemporary Art Week 2011, Bill Hodges Gallery is delighted to present NAO, the New York City debut exhibition of Tanabe, Nao. Between March 24th and April 14th they will feature acrylic portraits of delicate young females painted in magically romantic landscapes exploring ideas of neoteny.

This exhibition calls attention to the phenomenon of neoteny in Japan, in addition to the rest of the world, examining how certain individuals exhibit delayed attitudinal development into conventional adulthood.
