“ . . . great aesthetic strength and magic.” Dominick Lombardi
With ENTWINED, Mary Hrbacek follows the success of her 2009 solo show at CREON Gallery with a new exhibition of paintings, curated by Richard Pasquarelli. Immersed in the observation of anthropomorphic trees, Hrbacek creates works that may seem unfamiliar, odd or unusual as she strips away external appearances revealing an eternal vision of tree “figures,” some on the verge of becoming – others transforming – into recognizable figural forms.
Mary Hrbacek’s work has been exhibited for more than 20 years at galleries and museums in New York City, across the United States and in Europe and Asia. Notable museum shows include those at The National Academy of Design and a 2005 exhibition at the Parrish Art Museum curated by Sara Nightingale.
