Re-appropriating abstract painting’s inventory of moves and attitudes, Dorota Kolodziejczyk makes paintings with a balance of accident and premeditation. Everything from the gestural actions, streaking forms, color relationships, varying paint transparencies, and shifting surface characteristics have been judged, in an effort to disrupt abstract painting’s codes.

Kolodziejczyk received her MFA from the School of Visual Arts. Her work has been reviewed in Art in America, the New York Times, and the Village Voice. This is her second solo exhibition in New York City.
