Mana Contemporary Art Center is pleased to announce its Grand Opening on Sunday May 15th, 2011. In addition to being the new home of The Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation and Trinkhalle Restaurant, the 125,000 square foot Center brings together artist studios, performance and exhibition spaces, and cutting edge art storage facilities, all under one roof.

With over 6,000 square feet of pristine exhibition space, The Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 2009 with the mission of cultivating programs that facilitate the exchange of ideas within the art community.

Trinkhalle Restaurant is the latest offering from Kurt Gutenbrunner, Chef/Co-Owner of New York City’s Wallsé, Blaue Gans and Café Kristall. Gutenbrunner’s modern interpretation of Austrian cuisine is offered alongside a series of rotating exhibitions and performances, stimulating all the senses.

Please join Founder and Director of Mana Contemporary Art Center, Eugene Lemay in the day-long celebration of this dynamic and innovative space.

1:30 – 4PM Tours of The Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation The day-long celebration will begin with Eileen S. Kaminsky leading tours of the inaugural exhibit, which features works of over forty artists from her personal collection. More information about the Foundation and collection can be found here. Food and refereshments will be served.

3PM Opening remarks by Milton Esterow and Mike Weiss Milton Esterow is the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of ARTnews, a former New York Times Reporter and Assistant to the Cultural News Editor. He has lectured extensively around the world about art and the art market, and is the author of The Art Stealers. Mike Weiss is the Owner and Director of Mike Weiss Gallery, an art collector, and a supporter.

4PM – 12AM Grand Opening of Trinkhalle Kurt Gutenbrunner brings his delectable German/Austria cuisine to Mana Contemporary with Trinkhalle, a beer garden, unique resturant, performance venue, and the cultural nerve of Mana Contemporary Art Center. Trinkhalle will merge contemporary art with a lively dining scene, an ever-changing menu, and rotating exhibitions, performances, and music experiences. In honor of the opening, an open bar will be served from 4:00 to 5:00pm. Please join us in a toast!

MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT 1:30PM Jazz Performance with David Sheetrit David Sheetrit and ensemble from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music

6PM (U)nity and Hazmat Modine (U)nity is an Afro-Latin group, infused with jazz and hip-hop, led by Cuban-American drummer Amaury Acosta and accompanied by Xioma Laugart, front woman for Yerba Buena. Hazmat Modine delivers a rustic, deliriously Dionysian blend of whorehouse Blues, Reggae, Klezmer, Country and Gypsy-tinged music. The band features dueling harmonicas, funky tuba, guitarists, trumpets and drums.
