Stop by, meet the artist, view a prototype installation, and donate: drop off your used crinolines and petticoats! Signed posters will be available.
Each day, the artist will be adding to the window installation; a prototype for Promises. The more petticoats donated from used bridesmaids and wedding dresses the larger this work in progress will grow.
Promises Promises III references a real incident: four young girls trafficked into the country with promises of marriage. Instead the girls were enslaved in brothels.
During this site specific installation the artist will be distressing net petticoats: tearing, shredding, painting, staining and suspending them from the ceiling, creating a seductive cloud as a reminder of girlish dreams: weddings, ballerinas, princesses and proms, but upon closer inspection; more disturbing events: the degradation and abuse of children as sex slaves.
