Liz Luisada culls imagery from dreams and mysticism and abstracts her material into painterly brushstrokes, studies of color and at times three-dimensional installations. Faces, figures, and objects appear in some paintings generated through gestural strokes and whimsical marks, while other paintings veer deeper into abstracted fields of paint. Luisada strives to create a mystical energy in her work, imbuing her compositions with a sense of magic made material.
Shaun Krupa’s paintings, sculptures and performances are rooted in the excavation of the artist’s childhood spent entertaining himself with everyday objects made extraordinary by the effects of nature. Broken televisions, radios and fans became tools for invention and imagination. Krupa strives to maintain these optimistic endeavors through the objects he’s always been drawn to, representing them without interfering with their form. Geometry appears again and again in his work, while the painterly process and materials soften his subject.
