Klompching Gallery is delighted to present the first exhibition for FRESH, our new annual open submission exhibition — co-curated by esteemed curator/collector W.M. Hunt and gallery owner Darren Ching.

The exhibition features the work of four new voices in contemporary photography. Skott Chandler’s ‘House Watch’ series, photographed from a ceiling fan point of view, capture intimate scenarios played out below within different room interiors. Harold Ross’ forest landscapes, entitled ‘Night’, utilize unusual lighting and a rich color palette to present a foreboding environment that is creepy and strange. Donna J. Wan uses scale to great effect in ‘In The Landscape’, dwarfing mankind by the sheer enormity of Nature. The smart assemblages by Ahron D. Weiner, ‘Bible Adinfinitum©’, are colorful, bold and graphic, drawing upon the language of advertising and alluding to a mind’s eye vision of the Old Testament.

In addition to the exhibit, Klompching Gallery is showcasing photographs by the following 10 short-listed FRESH photographers on the gallery’s website: Mary Ellen Bartley, Erik Boker, Christopher Capozziello, Christopher Ernst, Jim Kazanjian, Avery McCarthy, Leigh Merrill, Kristen Schmid Schurter, Tina Schula and Kimberly Witham.

Coinciding with the gallery exhibition, Fraction Magazine will publish a special online edition of its magazine featuring the four exhibiting photographers, with an introduction by W.M. Hunt.

“In each of these series, the artists make us look in a fresh way, to consider scenes that might not seem that extraordinary until their mediation … Curiously these selections demonstrate photography’s unique appreciation and appropriation of reality.” —W.M. Hunt.
