Joshua Liner Gallery is pleased to present the 2011 Summer Group Exhibition showcasing 16 artists, including established gallery regulars and several newcomers to the gallery. The exhibition will feature painting, collage, and drawing, with works by the following artists:

Chloe Early, Damon Soule, Dave Kinsey, David Ellis, Evan Hecox, Evelyn Rydz, Greg Lamarche, Herbert Baglione, Oliver Vernon, Pema Rinzin, Ryan McLennan, Shawn Barber, Stephen Powers, Tiffany Bozic, Tomokazu Matsuyama and Tony Curanaj.

Offering a preview of the fall 2011 and 2012 programs, the Summer Group Exhibition will present work by a number of artists who will return for solo shows over the coming months. The fall kicks off with painter Tomokazu Matsuyama and his colorful, contemporary takes on Japanese mythology and classical motifs (his second solo with the gallery). Chloe Early will follow in October with expressionistic urban noir paintings (her New York solo debut), along with Ryan McLennan’s allegorical nature paintings (his second solo with the gallery). On the heels of his stunning 2011 New York PULSE Prize–winning presentation with Joshua Liner, the celebrated installation and video artist David Ellis will finish out the year with his debut solo exhibition of new work at the gallery.

In January, gallery artist Tony Curanaj will select Joshua Liner’s inaugural artist-curated annual, and then return in September 2012 for an exhibition of new paintings, his debut solo show with the gallery. In late spring and summer 2012, the gallery will mount its second solo exhibitions of Evan Hecox’s documentary-style renderings of exotic locales in gouache on panel and paper, and new works in oil on canvas by figurative painter Shawn Barber.

In fall 2012, Joshua Liner will present works in collage, painting, and installation by Greg Lamarche, the artist’s debut solo with the gallery, followed by acrylic on maple panel paintings by nature fantasist Tiffany Bozic in her second solo with the gallery. The year will finish with the mixed-media on canvas paintings of Dave Kinsey, his second solo show with the gallery.

The 2011 Summer Group Exhibition will also feature works by gallery artists Pema Rinzin, Damon Soule, and Oliver Vernon, along with gallery newcomers Herbert Baglione, Stephen Powers, and Evelyn Rydz.
