John McWhinnie @ Glenn Horowitz Bookseller is pleased to present DASH, an exhibition that debuts the work of David Matterhorn. This first solo exhibition by Matterhorn presents a collection of 12 photographs from the series created between 2008 to present. The show will open with a reception on Wednesday, 14 September and will be on view through Saturday, 8 October 2011. For this series David Matterhorn has spanned the world and photographed the most recognizable symbol of our life-in-death: the gravestone dash.

This exhibition comprises works of the last four years, during which the artist visited cemeteries from Paris to Portland seeking out the most compelling dashes. After photographing Jackson Pollock’s dash, he discovered how that image and those of other notable figures serve as a potent reminder of both the fleeting nature of life and our own personal power.
