For Sugar is Not a Vegetable, Rebeca Raney has created a conceptual installation, ambitious in its attempt to create an imagined forested island-world. With works on paper, painting and sculpture, Raney tends to the needs of her personified animals and human creatures. A large hanging sculpture of cherries represents food; a painting centered around a body of water symbolizes the ocean; and 100 abstract drawings serve as a forest.
