The final installment of curator Marc Gartman’s series of exhibitions features contemporary musicians who are also visual artists. Previous series included the work of Bill Callahan (Smog), Ida Pearle (Ida), Devendra Banhart, Jon Langford (The Mekons), Tara Jane O’Niel, and David Pajo (Papa M, Slint).
DC Berman has been working under the Silver Jews moniker since 1993. Berman’s most recent record ‘Tanglewood Numbers’ was released on Drag City in October 2005.
John Darnielle’s, a.k.a. The Mountain Goats’ most recent CD, ‘The Sunset Tree,’ was released this year. Darnielle presents a series of books handmade with stickers, ballpoint pen and construction paper that chronicle the adventures of Chavo Guerrero, the Champion of the World.
Pall Jenkins is best known for his work fronting The Black Heart Procession and Three Mile Pilot and his drawings have graced many of their record covers. Jenkins presents a series of enlarged Polaroid prints taken during the filming of The Tropics of Love, a murder mystery film inspired by the 2002 full-length Amore Del Tropico.
Jason Molina from Magnolia Electric Co. (and previously Songs: Ohia) released a new EP in October and a full-length earlier this year on Secretly Canadian Records. Here he will debut Ghost Songs, a work consisting of 400 collages, prints, photos, drawings, lyrics and found objects inside of 9 small boxes.
Archer Prewitt, known for his solo projects as well as his work with The Sea and Cake, released the full-length ‘Wilderness’ earlier this year on Thrill Jockey. Since the early 1990s, Prewitt has been drawing ‘Sof’’ Boy’ comics. Here he presents original artwork from the third volume of ‘Sof’ Boy.’
