Illuminated Metropolis Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new work by Rupert Goldsworthy. The exhibition runs from October 6th to Oct 29th. There will be an opening reception on Thursday October 6th from 6-8pm.
A British-born artist, writer and curator, Goldsworthy lives and works in New York. He has exhibited his work widely since the mid-1980s, and he also became known during the 1990s and early 2000s for a roving artist-run gallery project with locations in Chelsea, NY and Berlin, Germany. His paintings address a range of subjects using post-Pop methodology. His concerns include colonial history, the Cold War, and the iconography of 1970s radicalism. For this exhibition Goldsworthy presents an installation of recent paintings, photographs, and collages made during the last year which draw on themes relating to New York, its intellectual history, and the contemporary cultural gestalt of the city.
HOURS: Friday 1 – 5 pm, Saturday 12 – 6 pm
