Cheryl Hazan Contemporary Art is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new paintings by Fort Lauderdale-based Madeline Denaro.
This is the artist’s third solo exhibition at the gallery. The show, entitled Between, is on view from October 13 through November 12, 2011.
In her latest series, Denaro shares her realm of abstraction by creating images that lure the viewer into what seems to be some unknown narrative. Through the layering of acrylics and polymers, she seems to unveil an invisible reality, manifested through the use of a complex palette with an unexpected allure. The artist follows few rules but somehow her painterly chaos is grounded by an underlying visual order, as if there is a force forming some organic illusion. The work speaks through form; expansive yet intimate, unknown yet approachable. The imagery, though unrecognizable, feels familiar – as if the artist is continually transmitting her own visual dialogue. Through this process there is an opening to a voice that speaks, not of reality and not of the sublime, but maybe something….just between.
Madeline Denaro was born in the Bronx and currently lives and works in Fort Lauderdale. Actively exhibiting in the US and abroad, Denaro had a solo show at the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale and will have her fifth solo exhibit in Germany next June. She has been awarded the South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship in 2002 and 2011 and the State of Florida Enhancement Grant in 2006.
