Milavec Hakimi Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition of recent paintings, photographs and sculptures by the artists John Gordon Gauld, Lisa Lebofsky, Ioana Manolache, Matthias Pliessnig, Jessica Speckhard, and Jeremy Wagner.
We live in uncertain times, but that is what every generation past and present concludes. We are bombarded with large amounts of information everyday and we worry and fill our minds with lists and to-do’s while trying to make a buck. Sometimes you just need to throw your head back, scream “Serenity Now”, and then take a hot bath. This art exhibition is reflective of the moment after all that burden has been released.
Executed with the use of both innovative and traditional materials (three of the artists use metal surfaces) these figurative images, like a whisper, find a way to captivate the viewer in the most subtle, yet enticing way. Serene like a calm lake, these works may be peaceful and still, but they run deep. These combined bodies of work can pacify even the worst day.
All the artists have the ability to convey simple objects into pensive mental journeys. The audience may walk away thinking about the works, mentally going back to them time and time again. These artists are a selection of the most celebrated young emerging artists that New York has to offer, paving the way for the new classical standard. We hope that upon viewing, you will be as awe struck as we are.
