Reminiscent of the abstract-expressionists, Steve Harding is constantly approaching and receding from the figurative in his latest show: “New Paintings.” By using latex house paints, ink, and water Harding manipulates his painting’s texture and color by continually layering and washing away areas of paint, calling attention simultaneously to what is present and to what is no longer there.
At his current solo show at English Kills Art Gallery, Steve Harding displays his most recent work. “New Paintings” will be available for viewing until the 18th of December. English Kills is the oldest gallery in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Founded in March 2007, English Kills has become the epicenter for cutting edge Brooklyn artists. ARTNET magazine said that English Kills “set[s] the tone for what is certain to become a greenhouse for the freshest and newest in New York art.”
English Kills Art Gallery is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays between 1-7 and by appointment.
