Jen Bekman Gallery is pleased to present Night Windows, iPhone finger paintings by Jorge Colombo. Night Windows is Colombo’s debut solo exhibition in New York City.

A flâneur for the digital age, Jorge Colombo strolls New York City, drawing iconic and everyday city scenes on his iPhone Brushes app. Each painting is unmistakably New York: familiar, grand and timeless, yet filtered by modern, cutting-edge technology. From silhouetted rooftop water towers and the illuminated Chrysler Building at night, to Fifth Avenue in the snow and anonymous, abstracted buildings defined only by their interior lights, Colombo finger-paints on location.

Earlier this year, Chronicle Books, in partnership with 20×200, published New York: Finger Paintings by Jorge Colombo, which features 100 of the artist’s lushly rendered illustrations of New York City. During the opening reception, Colombo will be signing copies of his new book.

In her introduction to New York , gallery founder Jen Bekman notes:

Jorge depicts these places with broad strokes and imprecisely shining lights, creating the
impression that everything is moving – the traffic and the people, each one of us
contributing to the shimmering shuffle of the city’s pulse.
