This exhibition presents an ambitious new work by Doug Wheeler, a pioneer of the late 1960s and early 1970s “Light and Space” movement in California, whose installations have rarely been seen in the United States. Built within the gallery’s 519 West 19th space, the artist’s fully enveloping environment will explore the materiality of light while also emphasizing the viewer’s physical experience of infinite space.
