The Dorian Grey Gallery is proud to present the first New York City retrospective of renown artist Mark Freeland (1957-2007). Mark Freeland lived by one straightforward code his entire life: If you want to do something significant, then do something original and different. Freeland was born, raised & lived in Buffalo, NY and remains one of the cities most enduring personalities. For Freeland, it was necessary always to reach farther, to be more outrageous, to dream up the unthinkable, to surprise, to shock and to affirm relentlessly his own sense of genius. It was always about his art, the performance, his music, and never about the business.

As a prolific artist he worked tirelessly to create an enduring body of work which included small thought provoking collage compositions and whimsical over-sized paintings. Mark was a world-renowned artist whose work is represented in private and public collections around the world. Prior to his passing, Mark had a show at Albright Knox Art Gallery in 2005 and earned a Silver Independent Publishers Award for two of this publications.
