“What’s Inside?” at Julie Saul Gallery refers to the centralized forms, which are the “subject” of Buck’s recent paintings; anthropomorphic wrapped objects both inviting and slightly sinister. Her vocabulary of form is distinctive and grows out of organic surrealism.
The combination of rich colors (burgundies and turquoise), deep tones and the occasional use of glitter also add to the dark but playful allure of the artist’s work.
