Alshawaf has always been mystified by the ghosts of nostalgia, and the unanswerable questions they ask our present selves. “Only As The Sun Sets” creates an evocative environment where we as viewers become inhabitants of a haunted space, filled by past and future video ghosts of the artist herself. This work elicits our own reflections on memory and mutable identity.
