Fowler Arts Collective is pleased to present Exquisite Show, an exhibition that is the result of blind collaboration between four Brooklyn artists: Elana Adler, Miles Debas, Dave Singley, and Stephanie Terao.

The distinct sensibilities of each artist’s work are unified by their playful interpretation of cadavre exquis, a game developed by Dadaist artists, commonly known as an Exquisite Corpse. Rather than following the guidelines of Exquisite Corpse literally, this common theme propels each artist toward a unique interpretation of body. Whether the body is figurative or abstract, whole or dissected, human or animal, or simply a prompt for something completely different, will be up to the individual artist. By revealing their work to one another only in the moment of curation, the artists allow for elements of play and spontaneity to surprise the viewer as well as the artists themselves. The result is an ambitious and diverse collection of loose ends and spare parts.

Please join us for Exquisite Show’s opening reception on Saturday, April 21st from 6-10 pm. Exquisite Show will be on view from April 21st to 29th, 2012. During the run of the exhibition, Fowler will have open gallery hours on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm to 5pm. During other times, the exhibition can be viewed by appointment.

Fowler is located in the historic Greenpoint Terminal building on the East River waterfront in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The closest subway is the Greenpoint Ave. G train stop. Our address is: 67 West Street, Unit 216, Brooklyn, NY 11222.

This exhibition is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by the Brooklyn Arts Council, Inc. (BAC).
