Richard Serra’s work was last exhibited in Harlem in 1969, when he had his New York solo debut at the Leo Castelli Warehouse on 125th Street. Because it would be impossible for Triple Candie to present a large-scale Serra sculpture, the exhibition consists of a scale model that was made by an exhibition designer for the exhibition Richard Serra Sculpture 1985-1998 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles (Sept. 20, 1998—Jan. 3, 1999). The model is scaled to 1/8” = 1’ and is made of museum board, paper, and ink wash.
