Kiss Me, so I am Queer by Dennis Yuen-Yen Li

Two Performances Tuesday, April 24, 1pm and 6pm

Remember in 60s the world for queer? Public sex took place behind the truck at the end of Christopher Street. Through making out, facing our libido, we truly reveal our queer identity that we established our heterotopia. By then we were not the manipulative mannequins lack of self, but the sculptor of our statue of identity. Somewhat, we lost our craftsmanship. You and I are becoming walking mannequins. We never understand who we truly are, but wear whoever puts on us; gesture whoever imposes. When we look into the mirror, are we still familiar what we see in the mirror?

This mannequin is an institution of collective pseudo-identity, a pseudo-heterotopia. Yet the mannequin is about to melt away. With a kiss, the revelation of your libido, we shall cruise to heterotopia. Kiss Me, so I am Queer.

-Dennis Yueh-Yeh Li

Artist Bio Dennis Yueh-Yeh Li, current MA candidate in Performance Studies at NYU, is a semi-performing artist having conducted several productions as a director, a performer, and a playwright in theatre, embodying cultures of femininity, fashion, literature, and homosexuality in Taiwan. He is, as well, a semi-writer composing poetry, prose, and short stories dealing with his deliriums in both Mandarin and English. Based on diverse cultural background and experiences, what he really desires for is to make a successful performance as Dionysus in 69 in his own experimental theatre, engendering actions to his main emphasis, queer identity. Meanwhile, to keep composing and attempt to be an influential writer.
